It seems as though every ferry is packed with schoolchildren this time of the year - we were no exception. We took 140-ish Y9 pupils (14 year olds) to France for a week - Rouen, Granville, St. Malo, Omaha Beach, WW2 cemeteries and Disneyland. Very tiring - being on duty all day, going to bed in the early hours after the little dears have finally gone to sleep and then getting up an hour before them, to make sure they surface in time for the coach...

Very rewarding though, and I wouldn't miss it for the world - we go on alternate years to Germany and France. This is my seventh consecutive year and in some years I've gone on a couple of trips...

The Germany cemetery - 21,000 dead - 3 times bigger than the American cemetery - near Isigny -

If anyone fancies trawling through the lot, there are 176 of the blighters here -

That looks amazing... Wow. It's official: despite what the inspectors say, our school is rubbish

Glad you had a good time - looks like fun :D

My missus took a large party of 14 year olds to Alton Towers last week. I don't think she's fully recovered yet. :*: :*:

I once helped my missus by looking after a few six year olds doing a traffic survey about twenty years ago - that did my head in - five hundred questions an hour - walking into the road as soon as my back was turned [to get a better look at the lorries] - stopping yourself from swearing in the kids company - jeez never again...

Good luck to ye efsb - teachers are a breed apart...

They were only a couple of miles away from us then...my school's the nearest high school to "Towers" as the kids call it - most of them end up working there as soon as they hit the 6th form. I would generally avoid the food in such places, but knowing the cooks - I definitely wouldn't eat it...!!

I took a small group of y10s to London last week -5.30am set off... went to the Treasury, Houses of Parliament where we met Richard Caborn- what a top bloke, then the Bank of England then the Tate modern - that was a day and a half. Most kids you take on trips are great but they seldom say thank you at the end - this lot were great however and a delight...managed to get home for the 10 O'clock news!

Went to Ypres for the day to see the trenches when i was at school. It was excellent and i met a load of friends on the ferry from another school that were going to other places which was fun. I've got to say i have very fond memories of school trips and teachers who took us on them :D well done to you all. Just know that in ten or so years time the students will look back and remember you with appreciation :)
