Conniston Cumbria.

Like the way LE said he will be 'dropping in here' - some make think he means 'paying a social visit' - but others know he means to 'chew the carpet after 16 pints of Unicorn'...

Samll world, I shall be at the Plough at Hickling on Saturday 6 June for a family do. It's under new ownership and we're told it's all rather good.

I used to frequent the Griffin at Keyworth, the Plough at Normanton on the Wolds, Flying Horse, Fountain, Royal Children and Ye Old Trip to Jerusalem when in Nottingham itself, Flying Horse is gone (it's a shopping arcade).

I bet the pool table an the juke box are both gone though.

Used to go to the Griff too (in Plumtree rather than Keyworth, where all the pubs were crap really, the Salutation was the best because you only had a 20% chance of getting into a fight - it was nearer 50% at some of the others ) but never really liked it.

The Plough in Normanton is one of those pubs that goes from good to crap every couple of years depending on the owners.

As for Nottingham, the Trip was the only real pub - the rest might have had a good crowd and been a good place to hang out (I'm thinking the Salutation) but they didn't feel like real pubs.

Peveril on the Peak, now that is a fine pub in Manchester.

Havne't been in since the mid 90's though.

I was in there a few weeks ago with a few other forum folk; I'd passed by many times, but never been in. It was indeed a real pub and absolutely packed out with proper people :D Hoping to find some new pubs next week as we're off to Bonnie Scotland for a few days break

It's just a few hundred yards from The Bridgewater Hall; strangely I seem to know pubs close to venues where there has ever been a Hawley gig!
