kind of inspired by Clive's topic earlier about his fave boozer in Manchester.... talk about, post pics of some of your favourite bars, pubs.. your local, or some place you drifted into on your travels, drunken ramblings especially welcome...

was here tonight, The Long Hall in Dublin, nice people both sides of the bar and fuckin wonderful ambiance....

What a great place to get leathered in...

I tried to find a post of my local - Oddfellows Arms Davenham - but the pic was only 8K - so I'll post a pic of my favourite pre Liverpool gig pub - Ma Egertons right next to Lime St Station - and the Empire - 100 yds to the Academy - a bit futher to other venues...

Aside from the obvious holy trinity here, this is the only one in Dublin i can remember the name of:

The Musician is often described as a pub, so i guess i can have that too:

The Railway in Donny. Always good for an early morning or late night livener:

All pubs down south are excluded on the basis that i can't remember any names and their ale is too expensive.

haha, thats a deal then. Speaking of pubs without tvs, I agree but i think these days pubs are suffering as we know and a lot of folks like to watch sports in pubs these days so I guess its a way of keeping people coming in which i suppose is reasonable but its not my thing, I'd never go to a pub to watch a match. Part of said pub crawl will have to be The Gravediggers then, no tv, no radio, no food served, no bar snacks, you'll get thrown out if you ask to pay with a credit card but its ace.

Eoin could you put together a top 10 - my wife's taking a weeks holiday end of July with her Mum and the dogs - so I could nip over for my own short break...

well, the first thing to do is avoid Temple bar, which is the main tourist area, overpriced and full of hens/stags weekends.
in the city center you could check out...

The Long Hall
The Stags Head
Bruxelles
The Oak
Hogans
Whelans
Lord Edward

all those pubs are pretty much within 10 mins walking distance max away from each other.

a little further out of the way and you could get the Dart train out to malahide which has an endless amount of nice pubs and good food, its a seaside town abot 25 minutes out. Or try Dun Laoghaire same distance but other end of line which is a fishing port and village with lovely pubs and good sea food restaurants. Ohh and not forgetting the Gravediggers in Glasnevin, 10 minutes in a taxi from the city center and every taxi man will have heard of it so no probs there.

my mate lives in kinvara on galway bay, and the village has some ace pubs, not least is tully's with an old fashioned shoulder high bar and a peat burning stove to keep you cosy next to corner where the players sit. i'll be there in a few weeks for a visit.

and another of the finest boozers in manchester, the legendary pev.
