I'll be there in January with some mates for a weekend. Whats to do there then at that time of year ? I don't know anything about Blackpool and am reckoning that there has to be more to it than the stereotype of just lapdancing clubs, trams and the elderly. Any advice on what to do where to go etc. would be muchly apreciated.

What about the reconditioned tram at the Pleasure Beach which is home to a club where you can get lap dances from pensioners (all 3 flavoues)?

Fleetwood - at the end of the tramline used to have a blues club - might have something on...

I'm with sunflower on this one. God forsaken place.

It's soul destroying in summer and even worse in winter.

I tootled up to Blackpool for a wedding last January. The reception was in a hotel on the prom which was cold, windswept, dark and depressing.

Don't go.

the best place to go is straight back to the airport terminal/bus/car/train that took you there and go home as fast as you can. vile place.

I'm more of a Morecambe man myself. Nice little model train shop.

I've always enjoyed it in Blackpool, probably coz of the drink, but i've never seen so much dogshit on the pavements. At least i think it was dogs shit.
As for things to do..... err, drink till yr silly, thats about it. :? i prefer the east coast.

Sadly, even as an old git I can't think of a single redeeming feature - unless, as Sunflower says, there is someone decent on at The Winter Gardens. Otherwise, I suggest you head a little further north to Lancaster - there are lots of good pubs around there!
