I love the sea :D :D That really is beautiful. It just stretches out as far as you can see and... Yes, very picturesque. Minus the reflective yellow vest.

Yes, had a great time thanks. This was at Bootle. Actually stayed in Coniston, a few miles away. What you can't see in the photos are the red flags warning of the live firing practice across the shore, from the M.O.D. base just along the beach  Mind you, I had the place to myself :D ......Winkle indeed :*: :*:

Hope little lad's feeling better

Bootle? Merseyside? Consiton? Lake District? Or is there another Bootle?

Coniston in the Lake District; Bootle Cumbria - between Barrow-In- Furness & Whitehaven. Saw the sign for 'The Beach' & went to have a look! Just down the road from Seascale.... That wasn't always a reflective vest - it only started glowing on the way home :*:

Oh, it's only an ordinary vest....Sorry!! Yes, it's great up there. I've always done well with the weather too, despite what everyone says.

It doesn't really matter about the weather though does it? In fact I think the Lake District is probably at it's best later in the year when the weather is bleak and there are fewer people around.

I'm definitely in favour of that. If you're ever in Coniston, go to the Black Bull. Fish & chips, beer batter. Lovely (if expensive :? )

I've very fond memories of the Lake District, Jessika and I stayed in Kendall the night before we eloped and got married in Gretna. One of the places I'll be visiting the next time we hit Blighty.

(Always makes me smirk when people say stuff like "Love the lakes, it rained though"... how d'ya think the Lakes got there??? Bit of a clue... gigantic puddles of water everywhere..)

I love the north west Lakes - Bassenthwaite area. It's much less touristy than the Windermere and Ambleside end. Coniston is really lovely. We love going over there, especially between Christmas and New Year and just walking with the dog - even in the rain.
