Just got back from Berlin - although, as I type, my bag is still in Amsterdam...(Update - bag returned, but it looked a bit stoned.)

The way everybody raves about German engineering you'd think they could fix a wonky pavement.

I was in Ramsgate at the weekend at the end of my holiday. There was a sort of festival going on up on the cliffs with bands and 'the wall of death' (the most exciting/frightening thing I've ever seen) But the most peculiar thing happened in the marina. I was sitting there minding my own business, (decorating the basket off my bike) when a man in an inflatable with an outboard was whizzing around, naked, shouting out words like, snobbery, corruption, whizzed past me and shouted 'harlot'! Charming. But absolutely brilliant. He was smiling and laughing. I pointed out that I was dressed and he was 'in the nip' how come I was the harlot? He blew me a kiss and left. Best end to a holiday I've ever had.

Id go for that myself ! stunning spot.. ive travelled over the Menai Bridge and straight many times and always blown away by the view and the landscape. Love the house on the Island always a bit envious of whoever lived there ! Id do it Helen.. it certainly beats Holyhead for a week.

I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.

So, Lake District in February, secluded cove in Devon in April, camper van in Cornwall for summer and... secretly so don't tell anyone, Monterey in October (for my whale-watching, sea-loving, marine biologist to be son, for doing well in his GCSEs, that's if he does, of course. If he's lazy and gets shit grades, it'll be Bognor...)xxxx

Weston Super Mare is good for Wales watching - and it's cheap.

We are currently going through a drawn out house move - after a couple of false 'completion' dates the deed is done - but it'll be a while before the new [old] place is 'renovated' - by which time it'll be nye on Christmas - so have booked a few days in Abergele [last of the big spenders]...

Oh, that's lovely Pops. Pastures new and all that. I always have itchy feet (no, it's not athletes' foot) and constantly want to move. Good luck. xxxx

A couple in our block did that, moved from one of the two bedroom flats into the three bedroom one literally next door. Sold the old one (which was in need of modernisation) for £180,000 and paid £160,000 for the new, bigger flat which was modernised!!
