I'm not entirely sold on this guy's voice, but his songwriting is top notch - some really clever lyrics. Both albums recommended.

I think this deserves a bit of a bump - The Bottom Feeders and, especially, Visions of Jehovah of the most recent album and Before the Beating Starts off Kill Devil Hills are really rather excellent bits of slyly clever Americana (though he's unsecretly Canadian).

I'm bumping this again simply because I keep coming back to these songs several months on. Top quality americana.

Free EP of old and new stuff at the link, with a proper new album on the way. Nicely twisted stuff.

Contrary to appearances I am not Jim Clements' one man street team, but his new album is out Monday and it's even more likely to appeal to Hawley sorts than the others.
