as I know some of you on here be Fleet Foxes fans... their drummer who goes by the name of J. Tillman has a new record out at the minute and it is quite brilliant. Imagine a more stripped down version of the Fleet Foxes, throw in a bit of Nick Drake topped off with a bit of Andrew Bird and you might get some idea, the boy has a great voice too..

A new project by Mr. Tillman (recovered an old thread so maybe you've already talked about it somewhere else), it's called Father John Misty, and the record "Fear Fun", great music and lyrics. I saw him playing at Primavera Sound this year, just him and his guitar, and he was amazing! One of the best performances of the festival!

The new record is indeed really good, a bit different from his other solo stuff sound wise but in a good way. seeing him later in the year hopefully.

I saw him at the No Direction Home festival last month and was really impressed - one of the highlights of the festival for me (as well as Richard, of course  ). Great live performer (and v funny!). Loving the Father John Misty album. Hoping to catch one of the November gigs too ..

love the album- havent caught him live in person yet but the live vids ive seen kind of remind me of Scott Walker when he was doing Jackie and Mathilde on TV back in the day with the hand gestures and flamboyant presentation - Very cool guy and definitely has a sense of humour which i like- It takes the right kind of person to be able to take yourself seriously all the time and not come across as a git

Oh, thanks for the tip about the concerts later in the year... it seems that he's coming back around here, so I'll sure go to see him again! Whether it's just him or the full band, I really loved his performance, and the sense of humour too!
And obviously he's got such a great voice (he was perfect for the Fleet Foxes lovely harmonies... it's sad if they have finally decided to break the band).
