though it was a great show last night, Eli was ace, and his backing band (true loves??) were amazing, really entertaining to watch...
loved the Carolina Chocolate Drops too, hopefully more on Friday......
Eli's album is on my christmas list!

But proving that the 'Later' producers' radar isn't as finely-tuned as all that, they missed the best old-skool soul revivalist in town this week. If you're more Tamla than Stax its got to be Raphael Saadiq, reviving the sweet soul spirit of Marvin/Smokey/Curtis/Sam. Two fabulous shows at the Jazz Cafe in Camden last Mon & Tue - this footage of his recent US album launch puts you right there (show starts at 40secs):
