Just got this Domino re-issue recently. Has anyone heard of this? I thought David McComb was a really gifted and unique songwriter and this album was my favourite Triffids album. Just so diverse. He loved Oublic Enemy as well as Elvis!
'Too hot to move, too hot to think' is one of the best songs ever about heat and the sluggishness you feel sometimes:

There's dirty dishes, piling up in the sink
But its too hot to move and its too hot to think..........Genius.

And 'New Years Greeting'The country widower' is just beautiful. I could pick so many tracks though.

Good reminder, Chris

Probably my fave band of the mid-late 80's. David McComb was a great songwriter and a captivating front-man for the band. Always thought of him as kind of a more countrified Nick Cave - i think he had that sort of presence. Saw some great gigs around London. When "Evil" Graham Lee joined, the band's sound really expanded. I recall how unusual it was to hear pedal steel from an "indie" band in those days

Would always go for Born Sandy Devotional, or even Calenture, ahead of The Black Swan, but I'm going to dig it out right now and relive some good old times.

Born Sandy Devotional's my favourite too. I've got the original version of The Black Swan but am tempted to get the reissue for the extra tracks.
