to be fair, Hancock werent exactly a ray of sunshine in private - i think thats common knowledge. it was a pretty well made piece but like all these films it just made me dig out Hancock's Half Hour to watch the original - and its a damn sight funnier too.

I'm sure you're right , it wasn't all dreary and depressing, but the intention is to focus on the dark side of things and I think the programmes convey that very well.

It's a pity that none of the people featured are around to redress the balance.


I agree with you Maggie .It was a sad story but it wasn't all doom and gloom .I particularly liked the scenes of Tony and Joan having a laugh , like when they went to the B&B in Ramsgate - it was all very touching .Joan Le Mesurier is still alive and in fact the drama was based on her memoir about her life with Hancock .
