Went to see 20th century Boy, the Marc Bolan musical. Far exceeded my expectations, good story line, which was dark in places, and some great music.

Show focuses on Rolan Bolan trying to find out who his father was, having lived in America and his mother blanking out what had happened on the night of Bolan's death he had little knowledge of his father so Rolan travels to London to unravel the story of his fathers life. Covers Marc's glorious ascent, the grisly post T.Rextasy years and his return to some kind of normality shortly before his death. Some great performances from supporting cast and, OK, the fella playing Bolan doesn't really look or sound like him and he speaks a bit like Frank Spencer at times but he put in a sterling performance. Some good humour in it too and an excellent band. There's a mini T.Rex concert at the end which had everyone on their feet. Recommended!

I'd love to see that!

Bolan was fantastic, dead charismatic, and so small you could have put him in your eye. :cyclopsani:

Same here - saw Trexstacy [?] years ago in the days of tribute bands at the Limelight in Crewe - they were fab and the guy in that band really is Marc Bolan - OK he's not but you know what I mean ...

He really thinks he is Bolan, lives the life on and off stage and all that.

That would be him - they were the one tribute band that had the old X factor - the place was bloody mental - we thought it would be half empty it was rammed - folks living their yesterdays I suppose - sad in one respect but f-----n A in another mind you it was Crewe :*: ..>

Shame The Limelight is closed. I wanted to see the Marc Bolan tribute there but couldn't get anyone to go with me.

Ha - saw the above and checked the T Rextasy site - it looks like they play the Picturedrome the Saturday before Christmas each year - they have bookings recorded until the end of 2013!

Plenty of chances to see them - may check with my big sis and go for Worcester in December - or maybe The Robin in Bilston - or maybe Holmfirth in December!
