This is funny. Wonder what Richard would do if Dave suddenly developed a liking for his music. Could happen...

As funny as that piece is,i think it was prompted by his fear that his own live crowd and fans are becoming as annoying as Cameron.
I saw him live last year in that London.....very funny. However, most of the crowd,i thought, sounded and looked very middle class..........into Mr Lee more because they think he's cool than think he's funny.....not good for his comedy cred at all.

I just think he's funny, probably the only funny comedian around. Apart from Mickey Flanagan, who I like just for the Out Out thing.

The funniest bit is: "I realised I had touched a Tory and so I ran to the kitchens and plunged my hand into a pan of boiling water, before cutting it off and throwing it into the Thames. Dead fish floated upwards and the river foamed with much blood."

I have a friend who had a job as a meeter and greater on the door of some posh doo. While shaking hands with people and smiling, she happened to look up and see that about five in line away from her was Thatcher. She just couldn't bring herself to touch the woman, blithered to her colleagues that she was going to be violently sick and went and hid in the loo until the foul old bitch was gone.

I wouldn't get offended by audiences too much Dickster. When I went to my first Hawley gig, the people who sat all around me were hideous but, fuck me, here I still am.

And, anyway, how the fuck can Cameron like Gillian Welch. I mean, what's wrong with the world?

Ah, they would probably have been The (not yet legendary) Piss Flaps and Dave......

I am too wet behind the ears here to understand the Piss Flaps thing. What is that all about? Not that the name doesn't slightly offend me but I'm sure that is its intention. Like little boys that say random rude words to boost their street cred.

And it was at the South Bank – lovely venue – but I was surrounded by people saying Yah a lot and discussing Richard's quaint swearing and comparing his music with other obscure combos who I, as a funk soul sister, had never heard of and didn't really want to hear especially as I was trying to listen. Not that any of this is a crime, it was just loud and boring and too close to me. And one of them was wearing a hat indoors which is just plain bad manners. x

I'm not surprised that Cameron likes Gillian Welch because it's great music, and who doesn't like great music?

I think everyone should be entitled to go to a gig if they want to and no one should feel excluded. Though personally I wouldn't let that c*** in!

If you need any volunteers to do either the holding down or the slapping, just let me know. Apparently, Dave went to the Gillian Welch thing with Louise Mensch, who I hate with a vengeance. For her whole attempt to normalise Tory women, who everyone knows are just heartless harpies with ugly souls, no matter how much slap they put on.

God, if you saw them looking up at you from the audience, you'd feel soooo dirty. Long, hot shower with a Brillo pad, wondering where you went wrong with your life...

And RP, your boat gig is pretty near Parliament. You never know, Dave might make an appearance...x

I wonder if he can swim!

On a similar note... this is even worse than the Gillian Welch thing. Any Blur fans out there? Could this photo be any worse?

well done hels, I agree... you can't always judge an artist by their fans...and lets face it you're not gonna get the working classes at a Stewart Lee gig.. ye gods they wouldn't understand half the vocabulary or have any sympathy with his left wing views

mickey flanagan is a proper east end boy and you even get the chattering classes at his gigs..lets just sit back and laugh at em and not worry too much about the audience ... :*:
