http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubert_Sumlin

Hubert Sumlin (November 16, 1931 – December 4, 2011) was an American Chicago blues and electric blues guitarist and singer. He was best known for his celebrated work, from 1955, as guitarist in Howlin' Wolf's band. His singular playing was characterized by "wrenched, shattering bursts of notes, sudden cliff-hanger silences and daring rhythmic suspensions".
Sumlin was listed as number 43 in the Rolling Stone 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.

Sad news, Hubert was amazing,
He influenced so many people.
Some great playing here - his guitar tone is fantastic too.

now that's the clip i was gonna pick !

and i think i would have him a bit higher than 43.

just one of the most natural players of any instrument i've ever heard. a big loss, though thank goodness he left so much behind for us to thrill to.

god bless hubert sumlin r.i.p.

The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger and Keith Richards will pay for the funeral of blues great Hubert Sumlin.

Sumlin’s partner Toni Ann has posted, “I just wanted to share with you, Hubert’s loving fans, that Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have insisted on picking up the full expenses for Hubert’s funeral. God Bless the Rolling Stones”.

I love guitars, although I don't always love the people that play them or the way they go about it. Hubert Sumlin was, and always will be, one of those players that affirm my love.
