Just finished watching this - really interesting, lovely film. Thought I knew just about everything there was to know but apparently not. Tissues at the ready though!

That is a brilliant film isn't it, Alan. Fantastic music .. so sad in parts. Marion Cotillard certainly deserved her Oscar.

I haven't watched it yet! She was quite good in the new Woody Allen film, and I'm a bit of a French music sycophant at the moment.

Totally agree!Watched it a few months ago and I have to say I'd never cried as much during a film as I did during this one...Marion Cotillard was totally unrecognisable and gave such a strong performance. She has become one of my favourite actresses since. And yes the soundtrack is absolutely beautiful!

Funnily enough I didn't rate it the first time I saw it either. Went to see it at the pictures with my sister when it first came out and fell asleep - I was really disappointed as I've always really loved her music. I picked it up earlier this year on one of those cheap DVD offers at the supermarket and absolutely loved it - I've watched it twice since I got the DVD and blubbed both times (even though I knew what was coming!). Maybe it depends on what sort of mood you're in when you watch it?

Each time I watch it I end up on YouTube listening to all the different interpretations of her songs - Jeff Buckley does a fantastic version of Hymne L'Amour as does Cyndi Lauper
