Have just seen on IMDB that this is being remade, and am filled with both dread and anticipation - the original is a personal favourite - yet, perhaps this is a film that is of an age now where it may benefit from a contemporary reading, and the cast includes Sam Riley and Dame Mirren. But more often than not nowadays it seems that films are remade because filmakers can show more sex, violence and special effects than was seen in the originals, at a cost to any imagination and ambiguity.
Maybe some things are best left well alone..............

I am also big fan of the original,if they make it in Black/White and keep it set in the 1940's it may work ,i like the idea of Sam Riley and Helen Mirren both pretty good actors

I think this could be good, I love the original and I've read the book three times. I wonder if Richard is involved with the music??, What was that Morrissey song that mentions characters from Brighton Rock, spicer etc?

How strange- I was just thinking about this film today and how advances in technology have rendered the classic "record" scene redundant ( I'll say no more for those who haven't seen it)

I'm intrigued by Richards enigmatic icon thing

and appalled at the thought of remake!

We can only hope it's ..well going by most remakes of my favourite films, I just hope it isn't shit

So Richard revealed on the Jonathon Ross radio show today that he has written a song for the new Brighton Rock film. Looking forward to it ... I shall have to reread the book very soon.
