In Kilmarnock for premiere of this play prior to London transfer; Adapted from Andrew O Hagen's novel by the Actor Ian Mcdiarmid.
Thought it was a very good production overall;It tells story of intellectual Priest who is emotionally shipwrecked and seeks comfort in the company of a couple of working class teenage schoolkids; Its part tale of repressed sexuality coupled with social commentary on religion and community.
Its Touring after the London run ( Leicester, Salford,Cornwall);

Talking of Andrew O'Hagan:

Homecoming Scotland 2009 is an events programme celebrating Scotland's great contributions to the world, and it's the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns' birth. Andrew O'Hagan has been presenting a very interesting programme on BBC2 called 'The World according to Robert Burns' in which he goes on a journey to find the people and the places which inspired Scotland's national bard.

Mind you, it's probably only been shown on BBC2 Scotland!

(And does Irn Bru count as one of Scotland's great contributions to the world?)

Yeah, there's been a lot of interviews in the papers up here with McDiarmid about that production .Sounds interesting.He's a good actor. He was great in an Inspector Morse episode (only seen it the once) in which he played a psychopath.
