I like it, anyone seen it? I like a bit of the Branagh and I love the way it is shot and the whole Scandinavian feel.

Couldn't get my head round all the foreign number plates and cold weather so I lashed it after a few minutes.

Scandanavia, eh? That explains it. Why?

The series is based on books by Henning Menkell (? spelling) and they are translated into English and set in his own country.

Visually, it's stunning. The title sequence is simple but brilliant and the use of digital photography, enabling such effects as tilt-shifting to manipulate shots so that they appear to be miniatures, lends the Swedish landscape an ethereal quality.

I read the book this is based on & really enjoyed it. However the Branagh factor is preventing me from viewing, I can't stand him as an actor, he just never convinces me at all. How is he in this? A glowing review might persuade me to give it a go.

i doubt there's anything to change your view of branagh in it, but i spotted the tilt shifting/depth of field thingy too, so you might like it just for the filming snapper.

i liked it anyway.

I've read most of the books and I think the series has caught the moodiness and the stillness of the landscape. Branagh is a bit of a stumbling block for me though I would dearly love to see the Graham Reid Billy plays again - stuck with me all these years and next to Boys From The Blackstuff is the best tv drama I've seen and is the way I like to remember Branagh He is understated in this and works because he's not so pleased with himself as you normally get. The pace of the series is slow and that is unusual in a cop show, nothing is there lightening the atmosphere and the camera is very much part of the scenery. Pretty good so far but not gripping
