A sad loss - this is a good summary biography:

He was due to play the Axis Festival here in Stoke, next weekend - he only pulled the gig a couple of days before he died.

Real real shame, true legend and modern day renaissance man.

Artist, Musician, Comedian and Gentleman.

I'll never forget holidays when I was a kid and we drove round to places listening to endless tapes of ISIHAC. Fantastic memories.

Was damn excited the first time I was on the Northen Line and went through Mornington Cresent coming from south from Camden, great times.

Life is that bit emptier now. Bye Humph.

Actually heard the news from the TV in the other room whilst I was browsing the forum. Great shame but a great life lived. The Christmas edition of ISIHAC had me laughing out loud in the car on my way to Christmas dinner. Priceless.

What a sad day - Humph will be sadly missed. A fitting tribute will be a a rerun of ISIHAC this lunchtime: Sunday lunch will never be the same!!

The word ‘legend’ is often overused but if any man deserves it it’s Humph. I remember giggling like a right idiot in the University computer clusters while I listened to ISIHAC on my headphones.

“I’d like to introduce... well, I’d like to introduce Dizzy Gillespie but he couldn’t make it, so here’s Barry Cryer…”

Samantha spent many hours in conversation with the BBC gramophone library research staff for this round, deliberating over the fine old 7-inchers they presented for inspection. She says before deciding which she was going to spin she had to think about each one long and hard.

:D

There was a super tv doc a few months back. Erudite and funny as well as being a committed music man. All I have is Bad Penny Blues which is a stotting record, though hardly typical of his style. A great performer and yes ISIHAC was made by him
