Anyone seen this film? Just saw it the other day, and really enjoyed it. Funny and rather touching too. About a lonely chap who buys himself a RealDoll as a girlfriend. Not dodgy in the slightest, but rather heartwarming. :)

I love it when there's about 50 films (well at least 5) out at one time that you want to see. Especially when this place puts them on-it's the main reason, besides mates, why I still live in this dump

it's 3 street away :D

yeah baby-it's nearly been closed sooo many times but the good peeps around here all join in and attempt to lynch any bastard that wants to turn it into a block of flats. Always shows indy/art/world cinema films and beats the pants off the multiplexes down the road for a mile BOTH ways-tis wonderful. Most people that work there are volunteers and ace to boot.

Some pics of the interior

it's one of the oldest cinemas in the UK and I love that it's so near to me.

There's also The Cottage road cinema just a mile away-so cute on the outside, massive inside.........shows a mix of indy and commercial stuff-always a better experience than the multiplexes which I loathe with a passion

Sadly can't see the pictures and there aren't any on the website, but never mind!

Bet its a great place to see films................ when I was little (in Maldon, Essex) we had a huge art deco cinema that we used to go to regularly - they demolished it in the 80's to make way for a complex of retirement flats............. absolutely criminal! Now in Chelmsford the old cinemas are used as night clubs or closed altogether and we have a soulless Odeon cinema.............. its just not the same! :?

TBH found it very slow paced and a bit twee - after half an hour Lars' monotone acting left me bored and not caring why he actually wanted to date a mail-order doll. Might have to watch it again and give it more time. Saw Old Joy for the first time a month back and liked that even though it's almost anti-film. Maybe it's cos when I was a lad I loved Will Oldham and Palace Brothers' stuff so it was interesting watching him act. Beautifully shot even if nothing actually really happens in the film. :*:

Into The Wild is a decent film - recommend that.

That's why I love watching and talking about films, there's always something else to watch and we all like different stuff and have different tastes. :D Even tho I enjoyed Lars and the Real Girl, I had to laugh even in quiet moments, as the doll had very pouty lips which were slightly open the whole time....for other erm purposes!!

I wish we had a lovely old cinema round our way, all our older cinemas have been knocked down. :( I'd love an old art deco cinema!! 8)

I loved Old Joy. But then again I have a slight obsession with Will Oldham.

"Sorrow is nothing but worn out joy" beautiful.

Yeah, admittedly if you're a fan of his music (or a stalker of his :*: ) you're going to get more out of it, probably.
Talking of the music, be nice if the Soundtrack was issued.

It would be, yes.

It's odd as I was listening to Master & Everyone on my way to work this morning.

Actually considering I have an obsession it's not really that odd.
