baffling - that's very mean of him, "warning you with peace and love?"

sounds like his head has gotten as big as his hooter.

Perhaps he's sacked his office staff?

I think the thing with Ringo is he's getting older and mebbes is feeling age catching up a bit and well there may be other things that come with age starting to kick in. He's always been the friendly Beatle and he's got a bit crabbit lately, feels unappreciated and is a bit pissed off with the fact that nothing he's done since Back off Boogaloo has mattered :*: All those years without a drink must be getting too him as well

I think there could be a fair amount of truth there.

And grace is just the measure of a fall.

Of course, he could have said nothing & paid someone to forge his autograph, which is an equally mean trick. I think he could have wrapped it up a bit better than he did though. Someone commented on the radio today that he could have just quietly stopped doing it - why the need to make a big announcement :eh?

That's exactly what I thought. All he had to do was stop opening the fan mail :?

I suppose by making a public declaration he hopes people won't get shirty with him once he starts refusing "Well mate I did make a statement...." I can't say I blame him to a large degree, most of the autograph hunters these days are just hyenas making money off the autographs selling them on ebay and the like. Sucks for the true fans but I suppose they will have to content themselves with a moment in his exulted presence as he politely tells them to fuck off.

Honestly, if he doesn't want to spend time autographing stuff, that's fair enough - people will understand, especially with greedy fans trying to make a quick buck - but to say that all fan mail will be binned?

If somebody has taken the time and effort to write to him (and I'm sure not all fans want something in return) the least he could do is skim through it - or get someone else to skim through it and just send out a standard acknowledgement? For gods sake stars in their thousands over the years have sent some kind of acknowledgement or copy of a signed photo - all he has to do is request that people send a pound to cover p & p or something!

What makes him so special that he can suddenly say he doesn't want that kind of attention?

Miserable git!!!
