A little bit heartbroken Blur are only visiting New York and LA this tour, no Chicago date. I know that Damon in particular has been famously underwhelmed with America, and not without some reason. But we really do want them to come. Sadness. Someone please cheer me up. :(

Sooooooo it's almost the 4th of July, which can only mean one thing: drunken nationalism! And actually it means another thing, which is me hiding in my house from idiots and soothing the cats freaking out over fireworks. Joy. It is such a complicated day here...a super-weird combination of rose-colored camaraderie with fellow citizens, and utter embarrassment at what the hell we are doing, like every day, to take a giant shit on the world. Woohoo, nonstop party! It's at this time of year that you basically eat your feelings and buckle down and just barbecue and have ice cream and corn on the cob and listen to the beautiful music of Aaron Copland while crying your eyes out for a country that never was, is not now, and despite your fervent hopes, may never be. Then usually to top the evening off you smoke a bowl out of ugly self-pity and watch Team America: World Police again, which results in you singing the following song for days on end:

America: Fuck Yeah!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U1mlCPMYtPk

Yeah, I know; first world white girl problems. But there you go. Happy Independence Day, everybody!

Did you guys know that Shaun Ryder hosts a show all about UFOs? Of course you did.

I did not.

I just found that out while scrolling through Netflix.

Shaun Ryder.

UFOs.

I had some cognitive dissonance at first, and then I realized…

...this actually makes perfect sense. (*) :alien:

Just to say, I have applied for Jools Holland tickets every series since it began. During that time, I have switched age categories and had two children. I have never received a ticket and, continuing in that tradition, they haven't given me one for this series either. Now, that is tedious...x

I’ve started writing a new song, called Fibonacci. I’ve only got as far as the count in, but see what you think:

‘with a nought, a one, a one, two, three, five….’

Rain, rain, just go away! Third time this week I've been soaked to the skin. Sitting in the office, wet through to my pants. Rubbish. x
