When I was at FE college, I used to work in a bar. The chef was called Tan – he was Taiwanese and almost as wide as he was tall, really muscly and hard. He smoked continuously over the food and if anyone fucked with the staff, he would either gob in their dinner or, if they were really badly behaved, come out of the kitchen shouting in his Mother Tongue brandishing a meat cleaver. We all loved him and cried like babies when he went back home. x |
