Following on from what everyone's said I'm gonna read up a bit more about it. Not sure why I feel the need to share that with all of you!
(For my next trick I will be thinking about making a cup of tea).

You could think about making me one too if you like. Wouldn't that be what communal living would be like? Loads of blokes making you loads of cups of tea... x

You don't have to rank anyone second or third or whatever if you don't want to, that's probably the best thing about it. So you can just pick a Labour candidate without feeling the need to fill in with Lib Dems and BNP and whatever else...

I like it :?

Yes but my point is that you will get idiots who will fill the form up just for the hell of it.

I know... I'm just not convinced you'll get any more of those idiots than the idiots who vote monster raving loony to prove the point that they hate mainstream politics.

Well, after much ruminating and brain busting, have decided I'm voting no too. This is not proportional representation – it's a halfway house which will favour the centre not the left, who traditionally get my vote. And I can't ignore the temptation to fuck over Clegg. They've been moaning about being disenfranchised long enough and, as soon as they get a whiff of power, they just fuck the country over. It's a no from me. x

I shall vote against AV. Initially, I felt inclined to go with it, generally thinking that it would be a fairer system which would produce improved representative, moderate and popularly effective Government. But, on reflection, I consider that AV as currently proposed would more likely frequently produce hypocritical innefficient coalitions and have potential to give greater clout to undesirable loony extreme parties (Right or Left!)

Argh... So you know how they're talking about changing the constituency boundaries? There's a review due between next year and 2015, I think. They've paired the two issues, so that even if the referendum ends up in a 'yes' for AV, all the MPs have to do is vote 'no' on the new boundaries, and AV never gets implemented. Stupid corrupt politics... Grumble...

My instinct is to vote against AV. It's not one thing or another. It's like a half way post. I too am very worried about the lunatic fringe like the BNP and the like.

It's not PR!

Our local labour party is recommending that we vote against. And I would love to see that worm Clegg fail. Can't wait for this bloody coalition government to collapse as it must do soon.

I hope everyone has joined the 38 degrees campaign to save other NHS. Oops that's another subject.

I'd be interested to know, if we'd had AV last year, how many people who gave up on Labour and voted Lib Dem, would have stuck with Labour and had Lib Dem as 2nd choice. Or how many voted Lib Dem anyway would have had Labour as 2nd. And what difference it might have made.
It's pure speculation and based on nothing more scientific than off the top of my head, but i bet we wouldn't be where we are now.
