What a lovely tribute to your lovely mum LPD - stopped me in my tracks too and really made me think - sometimes we forget what is really important - I am off to call her now to tell her I love her very much. Thinking of you and your family LPD, lots of love x

So sorry to hear this news Steve. I always count myself lucky to have a brilliant Mum, and it sounds as though you have been similarly blessed. Thinking of you & your family, take care.

Wishing you love from here, too.

I nearly lost my Mom this summer, it's almost impossible to write that - to think it and even remember it, as she gets better everyday. She's just days away from ending home nursing care and being able to go out to things again. I promise to treasure the time even more (and not lose my temper like last week), for everyone who wished they could.

Condolences to you and your family. Sadly my mum is no longer with us, but i'm glad that I moved home to be with her for the last 6 months of her life. I still think of her every day. I guess that means that she is still always with me, as i'm sure yours will be with youxx

So sorry to hear that, Steve. I lost my mum ten years ago and still miss her terribly. You words are very true - I took my mum very much for granted and didn't visit quite as often as I should have. Much love to you and your family x

Oh LPD, bless you and her.

Really sad, doesn't matter what age you are when you lose your mammy it's far too young. I've been alive longer without mine than with her (she died whe I was 22) but I think of her every single day.

Those of you who are lucky enough to still have your mum around should give her a big hug as soon as you can.

Just 'cos.

My condolences LPD and my thoughts are with you. There is not a lot I can add to the comments already posted. I sincerely hope that you can find a glimmer of comfort in them.

Regards, Steve.

Thank-you all for the kind words. I wasn't particularly seeking any but knowing the kind and sincere people on this forum I should have expected them.

My "post" was really aimed for you all with a Mum around to make an effort within your busy lives to say how much you appreciate her as I know personally we often take our muns for granted.

I was blessed with a mum who loved and cared for all her family - old and young - throughout her adult life. My comfort in the difficult times of the last 5 months in particular comes from seeing the love and support from the family shown not only to mum during her illness but also to my dad who has now lost his soul mate and wife of 61 years.

My sense of loss is also tempered by the fact that mum is no longer suffering and my pride in belonging to a family that have demonstrated such a close bond when it mattered.

Eloquent as ever Steve your words moved me to tears.

I changed jobs last year and one of the benefits of working less hours is I'm able to spend more time with my lovely Mum, she's not getting any younger and not in good health, she suffers from fybromyalgia which is an incredibly debilitating illness. It started just after she retired which was so ironic, she worked so hard all her life and now she should be enjoying her retirement and she's not well. When I was little she had three jobs to help make ends meet, cleaninn a laundrette, cleaning in a department store and working in the local chippy on a lunchtime. My Dad worked permanent nights so it was effectively
like being a single parent for her when we were growing up.
You never ever hear her complain though and her and my Dad are totally my rocks.
I'm taking her out for lunch tomorrow, the cleaning can wait.

Thinking of you Sue and the rest of your family Xx
