I loved it, started early on the Buck Fizz and sat glued to the telly at a mates all morning. It's been a great excuse to sit on my backside, drink champers, ooh and ah at the dress and laugh at fergies daughters hats. Following the comments on facebook was as entertaining as the do itself.
I thought the ceremony was incredibly moving, great hymns, great readings, really good message from the Bishop of London. I think they played it right, it wasn't over the top ostentatious but there has to be a bit of pomp, he's our future king for heavens sake. I may be in a minority but I had a real lump in my throat, the local news showed whole communities coming together to have street parties and celebrate together which is another great thing to come out of it and something we British do well. I had a great day.

I saw the highlights later. Best bit was the Battle of Britain Memorial flight fly-past. The presenters kept banging on about a train. I didn't see that. Pity really, as I like trains. Was it a steam one? :*:
My Mum loved it. My Dad would've spent the day walking the dog.
I can take or leave the Royals really. And let's face it, if they are a family of inbreds living off the rest of us, they won't be the only one, will they :Oink:

I'm probably one of the minority with you Kate... I didn't do anything special as i've got a stinking cold/chest infection but I thought it was a lovely service, she looked gorgeous and they both looked really happy...and like them or loath them these occasions DO lift the mood of the 'people' so in my book that can't be a bad thing!

Longpig you cunt.

I think you will find that yesterdays extravaganza cost this country billions, because of the extra day off and the timing of it at a time when we just cannot afford to lose billions on a nice little day.

The return on a few Union Jack flags around London is small fry to that.

Exactly. I don't blame them for the recession but it throws it into stark relief when you see an extravaganza like that. And it's so obviously timed to'lift the mood'!!!!!

Hasn't the TUC been campaigning for years for an extra bank holiday for a community knees up?

And don't forget that as well as being a financial drain this is the family that set Di and Charles up knowing full well that she was only ever thought of as a baby factory.
( i didn't have any time for her either, but still....)
And when she died they packed her sons off to church the next day when they should have been being comforted by their dad.
If you want any more examples of why we shouldnt doff our titfers and respect this out of date inhuman institution i'm sure i can come up with a few.

I sit with the minority on this one. I really enjoyed watching the service on TV and thought Kate looked lovely. In contrast to previous royal weddings it was nice to see people looking genuinely happy.

I don't have any really strong feelings about the royals - love or hate - it makes a welcome change to see something on the news that's brought enjoyment to a lot of people

I'm really not a fan of the Royal family,but............... the monarchy costs the taxpayer nothing, as all income from the Crown Estates is donated to the treasury ...........

http://www.thecrownestate.co.uk/tce_faqs.htm

The figure donated last year was £256million.
Take off the £40 million we pay them and that means the taxpayer actually gained £216million last year.

I enjoyed the wedding, I had nothing better to do as I am stuck at home with a broken ankle. William and Kate looked happy, everthing went to plan and the crowds there seemed to be enjoying themselves. I wish them well.

I didn't like the way Camilla fitted into the 'mother of the groom' place but William and Harry seem to accept her and that's the main thing.

Do you not think thats a bit of a moot point though?

It's like it's not 1760 and really it has bog all to do with the Queen.

At the end of the day all this land was obtained through kicking heads in..though obviously along time ago to say the least.

It just belongs to the nation..not the Queen.

So 'donation'..I'm struggling with.
