This just made me laugh for some reason, the current top ten 'most read' stories on the BBC News site:

- Live coverage - General Election 2010
- First hung parliament for decades
- Analysis: What's next for the leaders?
- Hung parliament: What happens next?
- Q&A: Election results
- UK 'wakes up to hung Parliament'
- Pound slumps on unclear election
- Clegg 'disappointed' at results
- Scissor Sisters axed entire album
- Election 2010: At a glance

Despite all my crap ranting over the last few weeks, I felt the fear and voted Labour. Just as we were going through the door to vote, my bloke looked at me and I looked at him, and we looked at the posh, smug, Tory fucker checking the polls and we knew that we couldn't do the protest thing. So Gordon and the rest of his middle class, warmongering, apologists for international finance got my vote and he got it just because I remember the Tories and what that bitch did to this country. Now, working for a council and being a shop steward, I will get ready to fight which ever gang of bastards form the government and their plans to devastate our public services and put me and my workmates out of a job.
The only thing that has made me really happy is the failure of the BNP in Barking and Dagenham and seeing the smile wiped off the face of that smug fat Nazi Griffin. x

I mean aside from conning us into a war, how can the gap between rich and poor grow wider and wider after 13 years of Labour government - whats that about?
The other thing that worries me is their tendency to want to control everything, I mean everything with Pc rules and safety rules nothing is free. I'm worried about them carrying on down that route. I know teachers who have lost their Jobs because of anonymous phone calls, Disabled people being harassed again because of anonymous phone calls, families being disrupted because of a 'smack' being reported. What would they do next? Tey have already passed laws that allow the council to kick your front door in to check your 'green' credentials

I completely agree Mr Charm... and this was the mob that said "things can only get better"....... and this lot took us to war in Iraq, has everyone forgotten that ? we can bang on about this all day and still be none the wiser, i read all these threads and acknowledge and understand alot of what everyone says but personally I don't think we are better off after 13 years, I'm certainly not..... and I danced a jig when Blair was elected in 97 when I was happily pregnant with my daughter....

well, i was wrong. withington went a bit more lib.
from 400 majority to a bit over 1,000.

arses.

i'm still in chorlton, but they changed the boundary so now my bit's in gorton.
pity, cos there a road near me with a forest of labour posters on it.

obvious when you look at the coloured map that the cities are labour and the soft south is conservative.

as much as we may be disappointed in labour, the reason they went new labour was that they found themselves to be unelectable. a pal of mine who was a serious labour councillor asked tony benn about blair soon after he was leader of the party. my pal wasn't sure about him.

benn's reply was "he's all we've got"

the article i linked from the independent has an interesting line.
"Choosing the lesser of two evils isn't a bad thing. The cliché makes it sound bad, but it's a good thing. You get less evil."

gawd 'elp us now. it looks like more evil.

And the BNP lost ALL its council seats in Barking and Dagenham. That is the best, best news in a miserable, crap day. Just shows you what Labour could've done if it had bothered to knock on doors and talk to people. x

It looks like Clegg feels obligated to make a pact wih Cameron - as Cameron has most seats biggest share of the vote cast etc...

Er Nick isn't that one of the key issues you were fighting against - the exisiting electoral system - bugger Cameron off - set up with Brown!

It'll all fall apart within a year - but hopefully some form of PR will be a part of a new electoral system...

Lets hope George Osborne stands down to let Vince Cable be Chancellor.

There'll have to be another election within 6 months - if Labour kick Gordon off the nest and stick David Milliband in as has been suggested they might have a chance at the end of the year. Not that personalities should come into it, but they do. Personally i find Milliband repulsive in a reptilian sort of way, but i'll try to get over it.
