Like that. Mavis Clegg, but probably gives him a bit more of a personality than he really has. People been talking about it at work all day – I work for a solidly Labour council, in fact Labour increased its share of the vote here and the Liberals lost seats. One of my workmates said that her and her other half were talking and they thought the silver lining of the situation is that at least our kids will grow up in a more political world and I think she's got a good point. We've had this New Labour blandness for years, doing some things to make people's lives better but not changing anything fundamental, just tinkering around the edges. The politics of consensus but with most of the population not consenting at all. Maybe this will see a bit of a rebirth of opinions and ideology and belief, which I think is no bad thing. Maybe it will help our kids reject this bland, consumerist blob that's foisted on them and make decisions about right and wrong.

Sky news coverage of David Cameron's acceptance speech disrupted to bear news that "Protesters storm Irish Parliament". Quite the overstatement, there was a bit of a shove at the gates and the cops went on the rampage. We didn't get in. It was spontaneous and we never intended to get in, but it's catapaulted the rainy protest into international headlines.

Don't get complacent or depressed guys - get on the streets. Oppose the cuts and get ready for the mother of all fight backs. I know we are over here.

dear god, the sight of those smug b**tards giggling at their press call is one of the most sickening things i've ever seen. it's just like the debating society back at posh school isn't it chaps, nothing too serious.

watch out.
ken clarke will hit legal aid funding (legal serivces commission)

and eric pickles will tear local government funding apart. he was one of the first to privatise local services out to profiteers

i can see my foot's gonna go throgh the telly pretty soon.
