It's an old story from a week or so back:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west ... 770323.stm

Simple answer to this - withdraw the award to this so-called 'comedian' (?),W.H.Smiths and other book stores can consign his biography to the shredding machine - don't let him appear on tv ever again .We could do without vile creeps like him(Brand and Ross can join him) clogging up our media .

Who cares?!?! Sorry but I just don't know why people get so wound up, isn't there a lot worse things going on in the World than Alan Carr making some silly remark?

God, people can't speak these days without running it by the politically/ sensitively correct brigade. Everybody takes such offense to everything. I'm just glad there's no hidden microphones in our house or i'd be crucified for all the puerto rican racial slurrs I aim at my husband and his heritage

Yes, who cares if a 'comedian' finds it amusing (it's so post-modern!) to dedicate an award to a 'mother' who has drugged and abused her nine year old daughter and tried to exhort money for her kidnapping.Who cares for the suffering of the child who will spend the rest of her childhood in care - the 'joke' about the 'mother' being a 'gay icon' is so much more important and if we dare to criticise , well we must be politically correct(!) or 'homophobic' . Sure there is a lot of horrible things happening in the world we all know that , but accepting such things as a mere ' silly remark' and failing to condemn really tells as about the general malaise and sick society we live in .Anyone who finds such comments acceptable really needs to examine their conscience .Maybe Carr will nominate Baby P's 'mother' or Ian Huntley if he ever gets another award ? :?

Was he not being 'ironic'?

So you've never received a joke or email that's in bad taste, because I certainly have, it happens all the time. Just because I couldn't give a toss about a remark made by some comedian doesn't mean I agree with child abuse... what the fuck?!?

Reading the full statement he made to the press was suggesting that he should devote this award to Sharon Matthews as i google her all the time, would suggest that he does use her as a topic at his gigs, he is quite topical in his live shows after all & to be honest if he had said that in front of a paying audience there would have been no reporting of bad taste & probably alot of laughs.
That said it may have been an inapropriate statement in the circumstances but as the press do like to villify celebraties & quote verbatim when they can sell more papers or column inches & at other times adapt things said to make them worse i guess there is no safe ground for celebs.
Put into perspective he should have kept it for the live routine but didn't, he's a silly bugger but not an endorcer of kids suffering.
He's a funny guy & a top nice bloke too apart from the teeth.
Sorry to bang on a bit.

i've heard far worse. let's face it, it was for the best for the little girl in the long run as at least she's got away from the big, stupid, dozy cow.

after viewing Luke's avatar for a few days now I think we should have a poll for celebrity with the worst haircut.
