Do they actually count all the democrat votes in Florida ... I get very confused by Florida ... those old soviets must be pissing themselves laughing at democracy ... and capitalism   ... surely they can't stitch up Florida again?! :?

I think it's a pretty rum job all round i.e McCain .v. Obama.

I would rather have seen Clinton over Obama any day and although she's not well-liked I think she would have had more idea than the above clowns.

I'm going to be soooo glad when it's all over. My SO is a political junkie and the TV is constantly tuned to MSNBC, CNN or (when he really wants to get angry about something) Fox. I'm interested, from an impartial observer point of view (I can't vote since I'm only a legal resident, not a citizen) but I'm really up to my eyeballs with it all.

I've threatened to move back to England if McCain/Palin win but quite frankly the way they've been behaving lately it almost seems like they're going out of their way to sabotage themselves. It's like McCain has realized what a mess he'd be inheriting so he's decided he's going to try and lose, and Palin is just trying to lay the groundwork for a 2012 run in her own right.

Palin 2012? If this country gets stupid enough to allow that to happen I definitely am moving back to Sheffield.

I know a great place I could recommend they love obnoxious gingers. It's about 15 miles off shore.

Being between jobs, I've been down in the weeds on this one for weeks. Don't know how I'll entertain myself once it's over.

Given the events of the day - is this especially strange for the American political debate process... McCain picking up his marbles and going home 'cos he doesn't want to play today?

Curiouser and curiouser. How much longer can he be taken seriously?

all the way to the white house apparently... we're an incredibly dense and stupid lot, as a mass... just don't seem to get that putting our hand in fire will burn us, so why not do it again? I mean after all the fire keeps telling us it's a cool breeze....

So how are ya feeling, Ms Laylah? Confident? Not so? I'm cautiously optimistic... there just seems to be a general feeling in the air that something is about to change and change big, even the right-wingers I know admit that (and admittedly I don't know many).

I really feel sad for Obama though - his nan passing away like 2 days before we start to get the result seems really.... cruel. Hopefully if nothing else it'll make sure people will definitely vote. That would be fitting :)

Thank god, or whoever, for that. Congrats to the Americans on here. It remains to be seen how effective Obama can or will be but what a truly historic, momentous occasion this is. Mccain's concession speech was very gracious & pitch perfect (apart from all the greatest country in the world, god bless America guff), had to respect him for the way he spoke about Obama & his acknowledgement of what's gone down. Right, off to watch Obama's speech & to bed.

Phew..
