I remember knotting poppy-dogs lead to my mountain bike -zooming off down the decommissioned rail branch line - the Sun shining through the trees - a bit of a 'Down in the Woods' scenario - poppy always in front by a nose - two minutes down the line - dog stops for a dump - bike stops with dog - I continue for about twenty foot - through the brambles nettles and undergrowth - Bradley Wiggins has got it easy...

Maybe if I tied a gang of them to the back of the car and just went down the pub and back :BEEEER

I'm of the belief that you should let this one go.

Unless you can think of something particualrly cutting, of course, in which case let 'em have it!

So I know the Olympics is about to start because every square inch of wall leading to the Olympic park has a McDonald's sign on it. Nice to know that the whoring is starting early. X

Drove to my mum's in Islington yesterday - usually takes ages due to Sunday roadworks - funnily enough no roadworks in sight, only flowers along the streets of London now, ....strange that should be the case just before Olympics.... and my Teacher friend tells me the schools around Stratford have closed a week early - so hypocritical when you're not allowed to take your kids out for a 'cheaper' holiday during term time or get a letter home if they miss a few days through illness...strange that...

Oh the tidiness of certain streets is amazing, and the freshly painted road markings, and most of the underground stations have an air of cleanliness that is not always there. In about a month all back to normal.

So, should someone set up a dedicated thread to moaning about the Olympics?

If so, this can be the opener.

My sons run at the nearest athletics club to the Olympic stadium, a 15 minute walk away. One of the runners at their club, Perri Shakes-Drayton, could get a medal for Team GB and they would love to see her run at the Games. First round, I was unsuccessful but today, I see LOCOG are releasing more tickets, so I logs on and low and behold, the women's 400m hurdles final is one of the late-released sessions. So I sets out to get four tickets, so our family can go and cheer Perri on. That is before I realise the tickets are priced at £725 each.

I have paid for the Olympic Games, through my taxes, and, as an east Londoner, am/are going to continue paying for it over the next two months. Closed roads, non-stopping public transport, closed schools, closed sporting facilities, closed parks and horrific journeys into work. This along with the insult of everywhere I go being plastered with a McDonald's sticker or the name of some sweatshop sports company. And if I want a ticket, I need to cough up £725. The whole thing is a fucking disgrace.x
