A giant. A living breathing piece of history, whose genius came from everything he left out as much as anything he put in-- he was truly the guitar that changed the world.

Heartfelt piece..the psychedelic take is interesting..it makes sense to me with Hound Dog in particular. I first knew it from my Dad's 78 and the solo has always had an almost physical sense to me, and I almost expected the guitar lines yo come flying off the disc but they somehow clung on due to the force created by the spinning..well I know what I mean anyway .. :D

What an incredibly sweet and thoughtful tribute. Especially because it can be really hard to talk and make sense through that kind of grief, when the nerves are so raw. You did a great job, Richard.

I thought you might also like to read this bit about my pal Deke meeting Scotty Moore. He feels quite the same way. xo

He is, and he is. You would like him very much and he you, you've also got quite a bit in common. He's knocked around a long time too, he's from the town where I went to college so I got to see his first band, Untamed Youth, about a momojillion times. All those guys were so great, very passionate and astute musicians with an enormous respect and interest in music history, and from a very young age. Particularly Derek (it's still funny to call him Deke!). It's been a real treat watching him branch out with the Ecco-Fonics and solo stuff and become an author and so forth. And it's also very comforting to know that legends like Scotty Moore will never be forgotten, as long as all of this history keeps being passed down into the right hands. ..>

Not related. But also so saddened to hear about Caroline Aherne. Another great talent gone.
