As an unashamed geeetar geek i couldnt help but notice a new addition to the stage last night at Troxy. There was a rather pretty Fender head and cab between the usual fender combos that weren't there in Edinburgh (at least i dont think they were) Is it for keeps Richard? Sounded lovely. |

Yes mate fender have asked me to road test it,I'll be using it in the studio too.its a belter it's the new"fender super sonic"it's the most incredible amp it straddles the classic and the modern really really brilliantly it kind of updates the pro-sonic which I used for years with Pulp and beyond which is also boss but the super has far far better tonal range it's just a killer amp and such a tiny wattage it's insanity really |

Is it better than the Tone-Master? I always wanted a Tone-Master and when I saw the Super-Sonic thought it would be the cloesest I could get... then I found the Tone-Master.... they are great amps. I've seen boz boorer from Morrissey's band using one. I've tried tried them a few times and they sound great but extremely loud |

It's hard to explain, but it picks out each string in a chord with such clarity, it almost feels like it turns it inton an acoustic... if you see what I mean. Plus they effectively tried to make it have a Marshall overdrive channel. But I'm interested in Super-Sonic, as (whilst I will never part with it), the Tone-Master lacks reverb, which I like. Here's what Neil at fender says:- "the Tonemaster was a 100w amp with 6L6's (a monster of an amp and revered because Jimmy Page played it for a while) The Super-Sonic 22 is 22 watts with 6V6's in the power stage much more like a mid 60's Deluxe Reverb. Talking of which the on the sonic head has a lush Fender Reverb, the Tonemaster was dry as a bone… (We do make a 100watt Super-Sonic Head for people who like that kind of thing - the clean channel is like a Twin but can be switched to a Bassman setting) Hope that helps |

Super-Sonics are ace, i've borrowed the combo version off a mate of mine for a few bigger gigs where i've needed more headroom. definately a lot of oomph for a low wattage amp. the drive channel takes some getting used to as it has 2 gain stages, but the clean channel is ace. breaks up nicely around 11 o'clock on the volume too.

I've got the 2x12 cab with it, but I assume you've got that already. Great amp, designed by Bruce Zinky for the custom-shop in the early 90's.
